Prevention. Intervention.
Restoration.

NIPSA is an action-based think tank that develops and implements new thinking and models for true public safety.

For too long, state violence has been the default response to mental health crises, substance use, domestic violence, and poverty.

Time and again, police interventions escalate situations that require compassion, trained care, and community support.

Communities across the country are searching for ways to respond to harm, crisis, and injustice without reproducing more violence.

Organizers, educators, healers, artists, and community leaders are building new models rooted in care, culture, and collective power.

NIPSA exists to strengthen, expand, and advance healing justice models that transform public safety and systems of care—so communities can experience safety, healing, and collective wellbeing. This work is rooted in one clear truth: our communities deserve responses to crises that heal, not harm.

Our communities deserve responses to crises that heal, not harm.

Our Mission

NIPSA builds thriving communities by advancing Healing Justice models that transform public safety and create systems of care.

We innovate community-led alternatives for Black and Brown and all colonized people to experience, access, and sustain safety, health, healing, and collective well-being.

Through Healing Justice modalities, alternatives to the carceral state, policy change, organizing, political education, trainings, research and direct community support, NIPSA disrupts the cultural and structural conditions that produce trauma, harm, intercommunal and state-sanctioned violence, replacing them with systems rooted in care, dignity, and liberation.
